Make AI Accessible for Kids and Everyone

How can we make AI accessible to everyone, especially underprivileged kids? Volunteers from Encepta, an infrastructure solution provider, and The C.O.D.E. Initiative, promoting digital literacy in underserved communities, took the challenge and teamed up to host an engaging workshop for underprivileged youth. During this workshop, participants learned how to build wildlife guardian applications with AI. We were excited to see kids learn and build AI applications using LandingLens.

The participants learned how to build wildlife guardian applications with AI using LandingLens, an AI-powered platform for visual inspection. The kids labeled the images of animals in a wildlife park to teach the AI model to recognize the animals correctly and trained the model to identify these animal species. Finally, they put their models to the test and evaluated their models.

Henry Hart, Senior GIS Analyst at Encepta, said “The kids were very engaging to learn and build AI models. Using LandingLens made the entire process incredibly engaging, from data labeling to model training. The kids were amazed to see how their AI models could recognize animals accurately and help park rangers with their job!”

The workshop had a profound impact on the kids and gave them an opportunity to explore a new field of technology that they otherwise would not have access to. The event also highlighted the importance of accessible and comprehensive education on topics such as AI and digital literacy. The C.O.D.E. Initiative and Encepta came together to make a difference, and contribute to the community.

The Building Wildlife Guardians with AI workshop is an excellent example of how AI can be taught and used to solve real-world problems. The event not only educated kids in AI but also demonstrated that, with the right tools and guidance, it can inspire the upcoming generation of innovators.
